Weyringergasse 27/i, 1040 Vienna architektur-im-magazin.atA Great LOUDREADING is in the Making. But No One has Noticed
On the call of ‘WORLDMAKERSUNITE!’, a traveling group of performers gathers in sessions all around the world to produce and disseminate emancipatory propaganda. Under the title Post-Novis (named after a combination of post-colonial and the collectivist group Unovis) the collective continues the banned practice originated in tobacco factories of the Caribbean of loudreading anti-capitalist, feminist, utopian, and anti-colonialist literature. A Great LOUDREADING is in the Making, But No One has Noticed borrows the title of Robert Musil’s last, unfinished chapter, to loudread worldmaking sessions in the heart of Vienna.

Soft Parade
Soft Parade is a group exhibition which brings together Michel Aniol, Meike Kuhnert, Eva Funk and Joshua Zielinski to Fabrikraum. The four independent artists, who are all based in Berlin, had the ambition to engage with the exhibition space and create new works dealing with the specific conditions of this place and its local context.
Kultur und Kunstverein FABRIKRAUM is a non-profit cultural association, which is based in Vienna. It was founded by a group of artists and cultural managers in 2018. The collective aims to create a platform that artists, curators, and researchers can introduce their works to each other and collaborate on different projects. We organize non-profit art and cultural events such as workshops, seminars, lectures, exhibitions, public interventions, fairs, artist talks, and discussions. We embrace all levels of artistic research with a special focus on multidisciplinary approaches and new media art.

Kevin Space
Volkertplatz 14, 1020 Vienna kevinspace.orgSveta Mordovskaya - Assholes
Kevin Space is pleased to present Assholes, the first solo exhibition of the Zurich-based artist Sveta Mordovskaya in Austria. This exhibition extends Mordovskaya’s pursuits in confronting codes, concepts and conventions of the everyday through a subjective, yet sociological and next to taxonomical attitude towards material properties, objects and language. Upheaving familiar perspectives that sediment into fragmented and increasingly contradictious realities, Assholes poetically, humorously and critically approaches the individual and society’s treatments of uncomfortable emotions leading to projections and conflicts.
Kevin Space is a Vienna based Kunstverein and was founded by Fanny Hauser, Carolina Nöbauer, Denise Helene Sumi and Franziska Sophie Wildförster in 2016. Kevin Space promotes international and local developments of contemporary visual arts, brought into dialogue in solo and group exhibitions as well as performative and discursive formats. A focus on the commission of new artistic productions, developed on site and conceived specifically for the space, and the close work with the artists invited test out the potential of the art space as a dynamic space of encounter.

Finissage "Pillow Paradise – Anne Glassner"
Pillow Paradise – Anne Glassner
…. Text Anna Reisenbichler
The Kulturdrogerie association, located in a former drugstore on Gentzgasse 86-88 in Vienna’s 18th district, Währing, makes studio space, production space, and exhibition and presentation area available to selected, invited artists.
The association was founded in 2005 by sculptors Markus Hiesleitner and Franz Tišek. Kulturdrogerie is an experimental art space that functions as an ideational testing ground, and provides artists with support and space that they otherwise would not have at their disposal to realise their projects. The Kulturdrogerie thus views its purpose as a place of production and exhibition for contemporary young art.

An early discussion at an Independent Space Index Stammtisch led to a proposal that Vienna’s independent scene could be considered a large and diverse intergenerational institution, presenting hundreds of exhibitions and projects per year, creating a responsive web of international networks. Questions about the role of these small collaborative cultural initiatives run parallel to those of valuation of individual artistic effort. This gives us a clue to what the ‘mission’ of such a decentralized institution might be. What should strategies of re-presentation be, whether it be through festivals, joint exhibitions, institutional invitations, or historical analysis?
Independent Synergies invites international artists, artist initiated, and independent projects to Vienna to exchange experiences, to meet and network with active members of our local scene, and to introduce independent artistic activity that takes place in contexts outside of our own.

An exhibition in collaboration with Sumac Space.
Sixth Tone is an experiment seeking to work through dialogue and peer-to-peer exchange in the process of exhibition making.
During a series of group meetings, carried out over six months, four artists and two curators assembled to question identity, belonging and the concept of "home". The artists, coming from various cultures and nationalities, reflected on their hybrid identities, characterised as a fluid form that internalises the negotiation and processing of different cultural perspectives. It implies that a person may feel equally belonging to two or more cultural spaces. These hybrid identities are considered inter-, trans- and multicultural; their bearers are bi-native, bi-national or tri-national; they either sit between the chairs, or on a third chair; at times, they don’t experience multiplicity but rather a contradiction, when the two cultures that form their identity do not coincide. The meetings offered a communal exercise in intimacy and vulnerability in a safe space devoted to debate, disagreement and listening. At philomena+, the group will present individual works alongside glimpses from their dialogue through responses and reflections on each other's artworks.
philomena+ aims to connect artists from the WANA-region (West Asia and North Africa) with the local art community in Vienna and vice versa. It is a platform for artists, researchers and the civil society for dialoguing, questioning, creating and collaborating.

MEMENTO MEMORY – Raimund Pleschberger, Ukrike Königshofer
How does a seemingly immaterial meaning, an aura, arise in a banal piece of matter – as Walter Benjamin describes it? What forms of staging are required for this? In which social context are they integrated? The exhibition poses questions about the uniqueness and significance of objects in our institutional or private culture of remembrance - be they museum works of art, church relics or private family photos.
SUPER acts out of a hybrid situation between suggestion, doubt, megalomania and self-irony. As collective fantasy as well as individual action SUPER suspends any form of decision between affirmation and subversion of hegemonial systems.
